Senior Interns-We would like to have a Senior Intern in each of our major high schools. Job description: Our Senior Interns will learn about marketing by email, social media and print. They will be asked to post on social media sites, coordinate email distribution with school staff, hang or distribute printed marketing materials, assist at sale at events and communicate with fellow students about upcoming events and promos. They will learn to size students for class ring orders, help coordinate a class poll and assist with poster and social media contests. Candidates for this position must have strong communication skills and be willing to spend a bit of time outside of school helping to prepare and post marketing materials. Must have access to the internet outside of school and be willing to attend one Zoom meeting per month with Senior Interns from other schools. Must have a completed permission form signed by a parent or guardian. Must have a recommendation by a faculty member. Ideally, candidate will have an interest in pursuing sales or marketing as a career. In return for participating in the program, the intern will receive a recognition plaque, their Balfour Deluxe Senior Package free of charge, and/or Balfour Bucks to spend on their choice of cool Balfour products. They will be recognized on our website and social media site. In addition, the program overseer will provide a letter of recommendation for college applications and/or future employer. If more than one qualified candidate applies, personal interviews will be held.
Student Role Model-FM Reed Scholastics will recognize one student from select schools every month as a student role model. Students can be nominated for their ability to inspire their peers in nearly any way. Possibilities include overcoming adversity, community involvement, personal achievement, generosity or academic improvement. Submissions will be reviewed by FM Reed Scholastics staff and a winner will be selected. Those not chosen, will be considered in subsequent months. Winners will be recognized with a plaque and given a Subway, Starbucks or DQ gift card to say Way to Go! In addition, their story and photo will be highlighted, with parental permission, on FM Reed Scholastics social media sites, and fmreedscholastics.com. The school will be provided with posters to hang at their discretion.
Poster Contest-Our Senior Intern will conduct a class poll to determine students’ favorite class ring styles. We will sponsor a contest for students to design a poster featuring these ring styles. Photos of the rings will be provided to students for reference. The design can be digital or rendered in traditional art medium. We have asked teachers in a few of our schools to help determine judging criteria. Students and faculty will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite poster.1stand 2nd place will be awarded. The posters will be reproduced, framed and displayed in the school. Winners will receive a $20 gift card from their choice of Subway, Starbucks or DQ. 1st place will receive $100 in Balfour Bucks, 2nd place will receive $50 in Balfour Bucks Balfour Bucks that can be spent on any high school Balfour item. Additionally, we will select an overall winner from our region who will receive a $100 VISA gift card.
Balfour College Scholarships-We will award one college scholarship per eligible school each year. Amount will be determined by school size. Criteria and application will be posted on each school’s page on fmreedscholastics.com. Guidance offices will also be provided with this information.
Senior Day-As a way of saying Thank you to our all-product schools, we will sponsor a Senior Day to congratulate graduates on their accomplishment. We will provide a pizza lunch or $4 per senior for the school to spend on the celebration. We will provide a banner to hang at the event, usually located at football field or gym. Students will be invited to wear their senior gear that day, post pictures on social media to be entered for prizes. There will be giveaways and prizes at the event. We would like to coordinate with school staff to make this celebration a fun day for the senior class.
Senior Shirt Design Contest-Every year we will have a contest for the juniors to design T-shirts and Hoodies that will be offered in their senior packages. Contest details will be emailed and presented at a junior class meeting. Winning design will appear on all shirts offered to the schools in our region. Winner will receive a Deluxe Senior Package, VISA gift card and recognition on our website and social media sites. A panel of art teachers will determine finalists. Students will vote for their favorite design.
Spirit Rings-We will work with our Senior Intern and a volunteer student committee to design school spirit rings. The student body will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite style from the 2 girl’s and 2 guy’s ring designs approved by the committee. These rings will be available during order sessions at the beginning of the year and will be included in one of the senior packages. $10 per ring sold will be given back to the school for use at their discretion.
Spirit Accessories-We will work with school administration to design a line of spirit accessories for each school. Typically, these consist of a keychain, lapel pin and pendant. These spirit accessories will be offered for sale on our website, as part of senior packages and at in-school events. A portion of each sale will be given to the school at the conclusion of each school year. As an alternative, the school can choose to purchase yearly in bulk to offer for sale as a fun-raiser.
